On August 4, 2005 BelCel JV Ltd. signed the contract with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. to supply 9 base stations and 25 sets of transceivers for the second carrier. New base stations shall enable to enlarge the coverage on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and the switching on of additional transceivers for the second carrier shall improve the communications quality in Minsk as well as in Zhodino, Zhlobin, Soligorsk, Mozyr, Lida, Orsha and other major towns of the country. To the end of August 2005 BelCel JV Ltd. plans to purchase other 50 base stations.

“Due to the new supplies we shall increase the network capacity and reach the number of up to 150 thousand subscribers. Likewise, we are closing the tender for soft hardware procurement to modernize and extend the capabilities of the company billing system. In the near future we plan to please our subscribers with a range of good news”, says Director General of BelCel JV Mr. Igor Bezruchenok.
