Press Service of the first cellular telecommunications operator in Belarus BelCel JV announces that on May 7, 2003 ten years have passed since the commercial operation of the first system of mobile communications in the country was launched. State enterprises, banks, embassies and major commercial structures were our first customers and now they remain among the subscribers of BelCel JV. In 1993 within several months after the launching of the first base station in Minsk cellular communications became available in Brest and Gomel, the deployment was going on by covering all regional centers and in the shortest possible time 60% of the national territory was covered by our network.
Nowadays BelCel JV celebrates its tenth anniversary as a new dynamic company. In February 2003 the new generation cellular telecommunications system in cdma2000 standard started its commercial operation.
Over again BelCel JV takes first place by implementing new services on the basis of cdma2000 technology. BelCel network provides you with the new capabilities, which were unavailable for the mobile phone users before, such as a high-speed wireless data transmission and full Internet access at any place where cdma2000 network operates: in Minsk and in the capital outskirts (Zaslavl, Raubichi, Fanipol, international airport Minsk-2), and in all regional centers.
As Director General Mr. Artem Orange has noted, “BelCel JV is a company with the ten years’ history, it is the operator of cellular telecommunications that has the License No.1.of the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Belarus. At present time we together with our subscribers pass through the important stage in BelCel life.
