Minsk. June 1, 2004. Press-cutting service of the first wireless operator of Belarus BelCel JV announces the expansion of NMT service area and the completion of NMT network building in the Republic of Belarus.

From June 1, 2004 telecom services of NMT standard have become available for the inhabitants of Dubrovno, Beshenkovitchi, Lepel, Glubokoye, Belynitchy, Drogitchin, Ivanovo, Volkovysk, Zhitkovitchy and Bogushevsk. To June 4, 2004 NMT telecommunications shall come to Begoml. All the above listed localities are included into the privileged tariffication area of BelCel JV. Cost of a call minute with the subscribers of the fixed network of Belarus amounts to 90 rubles only.

“More than 10 years ago BelCel JV brought the idea of wireless communications to Belarus. Nowadays, performing the social function we expand the coverage area and decrease our tariffs to the maximum to make a cell phone available for everybody. Time-proved NMT telecommunications can be used for the welfare of thousands of subscribers and our low tariffs enable to win new users to the “mobile” technologies”, Deputy Commercial Director on Marketing Mr. Vadim Markov has commented on the situation.

BelCel JV is the first cellular operator in the Republic of Belarus. The company provides cellular communications services since May 1993.

BELCEL network covers in total 69% of the national territory. 21 inhabited localities of Belarus are included into the privileged tariffication area of NMT services.

Gomel region: Bragin, Narovlya, Khoiniki, Rechitsa, Rogachev, Buda-Koshelevo, Chetchersk, Zhitkovitchi;
Brest region: Stolin, Drogitchin, Ivanovo;
Mogilev region: Bykhov, Belynitchi;
Grodno region: Ivye, Volkovysk;
Vitebsk region: Beshenkovitchi, Lepel, Glubokoye, Dubrovno, Bogushevsk.
